"Enhancing the Flight Simulator rotary-wing experience." |
|
Let's face it. Helicopters are expensive to lease, buy, own, and operate. This places them out of the reach of most helicopter fans. Since the release of Microsoft Flight Simulator 98, those of us who love rotary-wing aviation have had the ability to simulate helicopter flight in a fairly realistic manner. Most of the frailties and foibles of the real world egg-beaters are present. This allows for some challenging enjoyment. The aircraft offered for download provide the helicopter enthusiast with the ability to fly virtual models of their favorite helicopters created by some of the best designers. The sim community owes these people a vote of thanks for putting the time and effort into making these creations as faithful to the original as they could. While researching the history, dimensions, weights and performance data of an aircraft one is thinking of modeling can be fun, it is also a good deal of work. The same can be said of the model's creation process. Getting it to behave properly is also a fair amount of effort. Please respect the designer's copyright. This site will never offer thousands of helicopters for download. Frankly, that's beyond our ability. Rather, we will try to provide examples similar to the aircraft found elsewhere on The Rotorhead site. Honest aircraft that perform as realistically as possible. Installation instructions are usually found within the downloaded archive, and we'll provide an instruction page in the near future. In the meantime, if you're stuck, and can't install a component, follow the link at the bottom of the page, and I'll try to help. Be advised though, that I don't check my mail every day, so please be patient. Apparently some folks need to be told: These are virtual aircraft designed as enhancements for use within the construct of Microsoft Flight Simulator, versions 98 and 2000. They are not real helicopters, civilian or military. Their purpose is purely for enjoyment and recreation. We do not manufacture, sell, or re-sell aircraft or hardware. |
