The Bell 427 made its 4 minute maiden flight on December 11, 1997, at Mirabel, Quebec, Canada. The flight test program was temporarily moved to Thermal, California, due to bad weather in Canada. More than 80 orders had been received for the new light twin as of April 1998. Canadian Certification is expected by December of 1998, and FAA certification and production/deliveries are scheduled for January 1999.
